We've made some improvements to online claims submission
Since launching online claims submission, we've continued to look at ways to improve your experience. We've recently made some enhancements to the tool to help ensure your claims continue to be processed efficiently.
If your benefits plan allows you to submit claims online, here are some of the changes you'll see the next time you log on. We'll be making more improvements throughout 2011.
Selecting a service provider
You'll now be asked to select the service provider instead of the type of claim on Step 3. This clarified wording will make it easier to choose the appropriate category for your claims as the title of the section now more closely reflects the list of providers.
Entering service provider information
We've updated the list of designations for service providers to the latest industry standards. Note that you may be asked to update one of your existing providers in order to make sure that the designation selected aligns with our current list.
Selecting a patient
We've added wording to the coordination of benefits page to let you know that you do not have to submit a separate claim to have the unpaid portion considered under your spouse's plan with Manulife (if you have coordination of benefits and your spouse's plan is with Manulife). The secondary claim will continue to be adjudicated after the initial claim is processed. Note that if your spouse has their own coverage or is primary payer for your dependants, their claims must be sent to their plan first and cannot be submitted online through your plan.
